Three Owls Farm

The Farm

Est. 2023

The Farmer:  I’m Ann Poteet.  Full-time Mom, most-time Farmer, and part-time Nurse Practitioner.  In 2022 I embarked on a personal, introspective journey that led me to regenerative farming.  A mix of curiosity, a desire to explore beyond the clinic, calls from the past, and a deep rooted feeling of wanting to “do good” led me to farming.

In 2023 I started Three Owls Farm as an urban, hand-tended farm, on a small plot of land in Golden, CO.  I care deeply about fostering the land and bringing balance to the soil.  I use natural growing methods to create a biologically intensive space for growth of high quality vegetables, herbs, and flowers.  Through minimal tillage methods, cover-cropping, beneficial insects for pest control, and organic fertilizers, I aim to cultivate an ecologically diverse space for the plants and creatures that exist on the land.

The Future:  I care passionately about helping those in need, and Three Owls Farm will be primarily focused on bringing nutritionally dense produce to those who face any number of challenges. The long-term goal of Three Owls Farm is to become a primarily non-profit farm that supports the needs of the Colorado community. Through outreach, grant funding, and hard work, we will follow the lessons of the indigenous Cheyenne who lived on this land before us through environmental stewardship and a focus on community.

Mission & Vision

Mission: Three Owls Farm blends urban, sustainable farming with health.  We connect the space between local farming and nourishment of the Colorado community.  We utilize the lessons learned from generations of land stewards before us, to grow nutritional food with regenerative practices, reduce our environmental impact, and to decrease health and nutritional disparities.

Vision:  Through stewardship of the land and forever learning, we aim to grow a diverse spectrum of highly nutritious crops on a small footprint.  A sense of wonder and gratitude is what drives us, and we aim to share this with our local community.

Values

We enrich our local community:  We are Colorado through and through, and our crops will go directly back to our local Colorado population.  We treat all humans equally, with respect and dignity, regardless of race, sex, social status, disability, faith, or anything else. It is our steadfast belief that everyone deserves nutritional security to thrive; whether that be through mind, body, soul, or relationships.  Health is not a privilege, but a fundamental human right.

We are sustainable:  We give thanks to those who have stewarded the land for generations, and aim to continue the practices that bring regeneration to the soil.  We aim to limit our environmental foot print in any way we can, through water conservation, recycling, natural growing, and renewable energy.

We are forever learning:  We understand and open ourselves to the lifelong commitment of listening to the land, and letting it guide us.  We embrace risk and aim to learn from our mistakes and failures.  We commit to sharing this learning with others who will listen as well.

Everything in balance:  First and foremost, we balance family and farm, work and fun.  We consistently strive for efficient farming, to allow those who work on the farm to stay healthy and balanced in all aspects of life.
